Effective solution for ground stabilization

In Isla Colón, Bocas del Toro, an innovative project was developed to combat erosion of the land where the Drinking Water Treatment Plant (PTAP) is located.

This problem put the infrastructure and water supply for the community at risk.

As a solution, it was decided to build a retaining wall with geocells.

The uneven terrain presented a significant challenge, as its topography made the use of traditional methods difficult.

The Geocells, a three-dimensional polymer structures, proved to be ideal due to their ability to adapt to different slopes and shapes.

During construction, heavy rains and the logistical challenges of transporting materials to the island complicated the process.

However, thanks to careful planning and the technical knowledge of the team, the difficulties were overcome.

The result was a functional wall that stabilized the terrain and guaranteed the operation of the PTAP.

This project ensured the stability of the tank and the continuous supply of drinking water to the community.
